Papa II

Early this morning my grandfather PapaII went home to be with the Lord. I am so thankful he got to spend Coopers first year with him.

Yesterday when he was in the bed at hospice unresponsive... so we thought.... he very clearly spoke to Cooper when I took him to his bedside. He very clearly greeted him with a "Hey Buddy" and a vrmmm vrmmm sound when I told him we would be here today playing outside on the patio of his room in the grass. This was the only clear response we got to anything and then less then 12 hours later he took his last breath with all of his family and our pastor by his side.

We are so thankful for the years we had with him. He was a man that worked hard all his life. Taking over the family business and working hard to provide for his family. He enjoyed farming and working on cars. He loved to reminisce and tell stories about "back when". We will miss those stories (whether they were true or not) : ). He adored my grandmother and would give her anything she ever wanted and she looked after him above and beyond the call of a wife. We know as Jono said last night to be absent from the body is to be in the presence of the Lord. That will be what we cling to over the next days, weeks, etc to come.

  1. The pictures with Cooper and your grandfather are so sweet! The chaplain at NGMC said the same thing when Jack died - that they are with the Lord and no longer suffering. Your grandfather seems like a fun guy for Wyatt and Jack to hang out with!

I still can't believe you have a blog! Next you'll tell me you're on Facebook!
